With Novation Launch Control XL’s latest firmware release the controller is now enabled to manage Cubase, Logic, and Pro Tools in addition to the renowned Ableton Live. The knobs can be customised with colours, and mappings can be switched between the users own or the in-built functions within Live.įinally, the console is USB bus-powered which means it can be plugged in and played wherever the user is, eliminating the need for a power supply. All of the features can be assigned to any of the parameters in Ableton Live, to allow the user to create their own layout. Under the faders are 16 multi-coloured buttons that provide mixer control and focus on the track. Under the rotary pots are eight, 60mm, durable faders that provide precise control over the levels. Each of the knobs have multi-coloured LEDs that light up to indicate the difference between EQs, sends or any other device, to the user. These are in the same layout that reflects the Ableton Live’s mixer. The top half of the unit carries the 24 knobs which are arranged in three rows. The controller contains a series of knobs, buttons, and faders. It is the perfect size and weight to carry in a bag and durable enough when being used in rigorous live situations. This means that the unit is now no longer exclusive to Ableton Live and additionally can be used with Cubase, Logic, and Pro Tools. With Launch Control’s latest firmware release the controller now works through any DAW that it supports HUI. This includes complete real-time management of Ableton Live’s session view, effects, mixer, and instruments. When the console is combined with Launchpad’s 64-button grid, more control over Ableton Live’s features is provided. The purpose of the controller is for the user to focus their attention on their music rather than the laptop. The unit consists of 24 knobs, 16 buttons, and 8 faders.
